Dignitaries and area residents gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking for the Granville Northwest Community Center on Aug. 9.  The center will serve as a resource hub for residents of the area in the vicinity of Fresno’s northwest border, known as Highway City.
Construction of the 5,500 square foot building is being underwritten by a consortium of partners including Granville Homes, Fresno Housing Authority, Wells Fargo, Highway City Community Development and Central Community Church. The City of Fresno, California Wellness Foundation, and Fresno County Public Library also contributed to the project.
When completed in June 2019, the facility will include a multi-purpose room as well as space for after-school tutoring and a small library. The center will also include a health office for wellness checks, dental services, and vision screenings.
