After a weekend update from Kern County, incumbent Congressman TJ Cox picked up 723 net votes but still trails David Valadao for the 21st Congressional District seat.
Kern County reported 4,211 votes in the district breaking 58.6% for Cox (D-Fresno). He now trails Valadao (R-Hanford) by 4,570 votes in the four-county region that comprise the district.
Kern County still has the most votes left to count. GV Wire estimates 40,000 votes still to go. Kern County has been strong for Cox. He won the county 61.2% in 2018. Cox won the 2018 election against then-incumbent Valadao by 862 votes.

Fresno County is expected to provide its next update on Tuesday afternoon. GV Wire estimates it has 12,000 votes in the district remaining to count.
Kings County has around 1,000 votes remaining, and a few hundred remain in Tulare County.

Cox delivered a video message on Sunday, congratulating presumptive president-elect Joe Biden and asking for campaign contributions on his own behalf.
“We still need your help today. If you’ve been with me since day one, or are just joining the team now, we still need your help to win,” an email news release from Cox said. “Please go to tjcoxforcongress.com/help and consider sending $10 or $20 our way, so we can pay our staff to make sure every vote is counted.”

Valadao has posted a new message on his Twitter account since Election Day. His campaign declined to provide a new statement.
